Hallmark hands down always has THE BEST ROMANCE movies. I have always been a hopeless romantic and this movie is will be apart of my Top 10. When the movie started out I had no idea how it was going to end or how the writers were going to spin the story starting out with a scene in the big city but an amish love story.
FOLLOW YOUR HEART SYNOPSIS
Kathy, an established travel writer, tells her manager that she is exhausted from all the traveling and is contemplating doing something new, maybe writing ‘poetry’. Right before her next trip, Kathy gets a call from her estranged younger sister Miriam, who lives in Amish Country, informing her about the death of their father. Kathy comes home to settle their dad’s affairs and her relationship with her sister. Kathy is reminded of her life before she leaves the Amish community, including her old love, Isaac. Will Kathy returns to her traveling lifestyle or will she stays to return to her roots?
This movie was in my opinion about a woman who risked leaving her family and love of her life to pursue a world that she had only read about in books. Books are amazing like that! So many people lose out on so much going on in the world and life by neglecting to simply pick up a book. I have always had a love for books since as long as I can remember. Follow Your Heart truly hits home. Kathy has lived the life that she has always imagined since she was young reading library books that she snuck when her family wasn’t paying attention. As her career continues to grow Kathy feels an internal urge that she’s missing something. She has an amazing boyfriend who is also famous and could probably buy her anything that her hearts desires but there is still something missing. After a couples spa retreat she finds out that her Father has passed and she decides to return back to Amish Country, the place that she escaped over 10 years earlier.
There is something in returning to the hurt for healing. Some wounds are always slightly opened until you mend them up permanently. Kathy made the decision to return home where she was deemed as a person who turned her back on her church, family and culture. It took a lot of courage for her to return back home and face her past. I won’t give the entire story away but I will say this…….There’s a powerful healing in an apology and forgiveness. I highly recommend this movie. If you’re looking for a great coming of age/romance movie then this is the one for you. Be sure to TUNE IN this weekend to the HALLMARK MOVIES & MYSTERIES on Sunday, October 4 at 9PM EST/8PM central for the premiere of Follow Your Heart.
**I received a pre-release screener to view to assist with this post. All opinions in my post are all my own**
Started watching the movie, when the main character arrived home after her father’s death she went to stay at an “inn” run by a friend. When she went to charge her cell phone she discovered that there was no electricity in the “inn”. If there is no electricity then why was there an electric exhaust hood over the stove in the kitchen?? Lost all interest after that. How about keeping things authentic.
