Living in Georgia certainly has its perks. The world knows that Atlanta was the home of the late, great Truett Cathy, Founder of Chick-Fil-A.
We learned that Truett was born during the Great Depression and at the tender age of eight-years-old he became an entrepreneur by selling bottled Coca-Cola in his wagon to neighbors. As a reminder he has a replica of his wagon inside his office and it’s always filled with Coca-Cola.
The tour at the Chick-Fil-A Headquarters is indeed one stop that should be on every family’s bucket list. The kids & I had the opportunity to attend the Backstage Tour held here in Atlanta at the Chick-Fil-A Headquarters along with fellow blogger who are all apart of the Chick-Fil-A Moms Club. We were all eager to about the history of the America-Favorite Restaurant Chain. The facility is housed on a beautiful 80-Acre Campus. The tour was indeed another testament to the innovative concepts that we all love about Chick-Fil-A. We were treated to the Deluxe Tour which begins in the Backstage room.
The Deluxe Tour started with the Chick-Fil-A team showing slides of the brands fun facts. Did you know?
- Do you know how long the Cows that we all love have been around? 20 Years
- Did you know that last year alone they used 200 Million lemons making their delicious lemonade?
- Did you know that Chick-Fil-A has sold over 3 Billion chicken sandwiches? (Billy answered this one correctly)
The kids had an amazing time answering the trivia question and with each correct answer they were selected to compete in a lemon squeezing contest. Billy participated and actually Won! It was a close call but he was the Champ! Check out the video below of the competition.
We all learned the 3 BIG Values that Truett believed in and taught his employees which would lead to success in life, school & work:
- Make smart decisions
- Maximize your potential
- Treat others right
We were all divided into three groups and we were the peach team (just like the peach milkshake that I love) which meant would set off to see Truett’s office. The kids absolutely loved having the opportunity to visit his office and take a peek at his sitting room where we are certain that’s where all of his innovative ideas were formulated.
Our next stop on the tour was to the Hatch which sits directly across the street. We hoped on a bus and headed over for another part of our tour. The Hatch is the Innovation Center where the corporate employees and business partners work alongside each other to solve problems and create prototypes of the amazing things that are to come with the future of Chick-Fil-A.
Chick-Fil-A spares no expense when it comes to ensuring that their team is well equipped. Ever wonder why you can go to any one of their restaurants and receive the same service? Take a look at the above picture. This is a prototype restaurant inside of Hatch where the magic is made with their leadership. AMAZING!!
We headed to our next destination….The KITCHEN! Now this is where all of the TOP SECRET Menu items are created and tested. We had the opportunity to taste their new greek yogurt which was wonderful by the way. My kids along with the other Chick-Fil-A Mom kids also enjoyed it. We also had the privilege to test a few of their new items that are soon to come but we were sworn to secrecy. I will say that they are all Winners!!
Our tour ended on the bottom floor of the home office which is where you can see some of Truett’s car collection. We noted from our visit to Rock Ranch that several of his other cars are stored there for the public to enjoy. The kids were particularly drawn to his Batmobile.
The tour was by far one of the best ones that we have taken and what I truly loved was that it was fun and educational. The kids are still talking about their experience. The Backstage Tours are available Monday – Friday, however the Deluxe Tour is only select days and times. Click here to learn more and remember Reservations are necessary for each tour. I highly recommend if you’re in Atlanta or visiting to take your family on the tour.
