***Special Thank You to the awesome folks at Drive STI, the kids and I took a road trip to Savannah and around Atlanta in the amazing 2014 Kia Soul. All opinions expressed in this post are my own.***
I was excited to have the opportunity to test drive the 2014 Kia Soul for a week. This was my second time driving a Kia Soul but the first time that I had the opportunity to truly enjoy the car. The first time I was given one during a business trip a year ago. The DriveSTI representative said that this particular Kia Soul was considered intermediate loaded. We’ll it seemed like it was fully loaded so if this one was not then I can only imagine what a fully loaded on offers. I was pleasantly pleased with the features and amenities that included but were not limited to:
- 2.oL Gas Direct Injection 4-CYL Engine
- Full-Length Side Curtain Airbags/Dual Front Advances Airbags
- Anti-Lock Braking System
- SIRIUS/XM Satellite Radio w/free 3-mo subscription
- Multi-Adjustable Front Seats
- Bluetooth Wireless Technology
- Remote Keyless Entry
- Panoramic Sunroof w/ Power Sunshade
- Heated & Ventilated Front Seats
- Navigation w/8″ Screen & SIRIUS/XM Traffic
As you can see my two Kia Hamsters were equally as excited as I was to test drive the Kia Soul and they decided to join me along for our week adventure. I had to tell them often that they were not old enough to drive and it was imperative that they both get in the back seat and fasten their seat belt. The Soul seated three in the back which was perfect because my two younger sons and the hamsters could safely be seated in the back.
We all settled in nicely in the Kia Soul as we set out for our Labor Day journey to Savannah, GA to spend time with my family. The kids were excited to take a drive in the Soul and soon became adapted to the amazing features that the vehicle offered. I was equally impressed with the miles per gallon that I observed. My SUV would have had to be filled up at least twice to make it to Savannah but the Soul made it to Savannah on one tank of gas with great mileage to go before filling it up again and when I did finally fill up the tank it was less than $38! Yep! I was completed sold!
Once in Savannah of course I took the Soul on a tour of Savannah since this was probably her first time visiting. Although the trunk space was not as large as what I am used to I loved the compartments that are in place because its perfect for a shopper like myself. I was able to place all of my packages neatly in the space which was perfect. Since I travel so much I have mastered packing one small suitcase so the space was no big deal for us. As our Kia Soul adventure continued to unfold we took several mini road trips in Savannah to visit fellow family member, local seafood dining which was by far my favorite and also visited my favorite take out Hibachi spot as well, Seasons of Japan.
We enjoyed our road trip to Savannah. I will admit having the SIRIUS/XM Traffic feature truly came in handy because on the drive back to Atlanta there was only one-lane open on Interstate 16 and we were able to take several alternative routes to avoid the traffic congestion that became apparent on our journey back home. I will point out that those heated seats came in handy on the long drive back because the kids wanted the air blowing and I became cold so the heated seats was a middle compromise for us. Our Kia Soul adventures did not end there because the next day we headed to South DeKalb Mall to cover the Social Media for Young Jeezy’s “Seen It All” Album release where my youngest son who also helps me with taking pictures was asked by Young Jeezy to accompany their photographer and take pictures alongside him. The hamsters were a little upset because we didn’t take them in to meet Young Jeezy so we had to bump Young Jeezy for them to jam too!

My journey did not end there because on that Friday morning I headed downtown to Centennial Park in the amazing Kia Soul to attended to a Bounty Sponsored Oprah Experience Power Breakfast with guest panelist Carla Hall, Nicole Jones and Karmetria Burton. This was truly an inspiring event. These ladies dropped some valuable nuggets on taking risk as an entrepreneur. The park filled with ladies from all over the world that came to Atlanta to attend Oprah’s Life You Want Tour.
As you can see in my opinion the 2014 Kia Soul is indeed a favorite of mine. As a mother it allowed me to be mommy and then transition into business with ease. The money that I saved on gas during the week was a plus and I will strongly consider purchasing one when I am in the market for a new car. As a mother I would encourage this vehicle for moms and its a great family car if you have three or less kids. In my case I have three and we all fit perfectly in the car with no problems. I was so said to see the car leave that I had to stand outside and hitch a ride from Oprah.
Just kidding about hitching a ride but I was indeed sad to say goodbye until next time. Make sure that you follow me for more updates on my car reviews! Thanks again DriveSTI for this amazing experience! You guys ROCK!
